This scripture takes us into another advantage of prayer. It simply communicates to us that prayer, is an essential tool that keeps us from falling into Temptation.
Notice what Jesus said: “Watch and pray… that you may not fall into temptation.” It is worthy to note that temptation is a double-edged sword. It can be an undoing for some as it was the undoing of Judas, and can be the making for some as it was the making of Peter. However, your prayer life will determine the results of the temptation that comes your way.
Prayer keeps you at alert, it quickens your spirit and prepares your to have the right response. Prayer doesn’t prevent temptations from coming because as you must have read in the scriptures, Jesus was tempted immediately He was done fasting and praying for forty days, and night however, it enables you to be sensitive to the devices of the enemy, and to be at alert. Prayer also arms you with all that is required to stand and not fall. Praise God!
Our opening verse says “Watch.” To watch is to keep active, to be at alert. This is so you don’t wander into temptation without knowing you’re in danger. Anytime you have the nudge to pray but feel so weak to pray, you must find strength to pray, because danger might just be close by.
Give no room to the devil, stay alert! Be vigilant, be prepared, don’t give in to the weakness of the flesh, awaken your spirit man, by praying always. Glory to God!
CONFESSION:
I refuse to give in to temptations from the devil. I declare I am vigilant, and triumphant everyday in the name of Jesus, Amen. Hallelujah!
