James 5:15 AMP
When you read the Bible, in order to get a more vivid understanding of what it says, you’d need to study the text in context. Find out who is writing, and to whom. Understand the people that is been written to then, you will better understand how applicable it is to you. James writing was to the twelve tribes of Israel if you read from James 1:1.
The Israelis have a culture of using oil on the sick and also on the dead. When Jesus did remember the women went early in the morning to anoint the body. The use of oil in the old was for consecration, for the sick like a first aid when someone is sick, and for preservation when someone is dead.
In James 5:14 it says, is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. He was communicating with them according to their cultural understanding which of course they would have done by default to first use the oil on the sick but in verse 15 it says, “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. Now you see the healing didn’t come from the oil rather it says the prayer offered in faith will bring healing to the sick.
What then is praying in faith? Praying in faith is reaffirming the word of God over your life, health or circumstances. It is saying the exact word of God concerning your healing. It is enforcing the word of God to align with your current situation. Hallelujah!
1 Peter 2:24 AMP says, He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed. Notice it says “you were healed” The prayer of faith is affirming this same word of God over your life declaring you are healed.
Asking for healing isn’t the prayer of faith rather, acting on your believe in the word by saying the exact word of God is. Faith is believing and acting on the word of God. You must concede to the word of God if you want to see it manifested in your life.
The oil (Anointing oil) is irrelevant to the new creation because Jesus Christ has become your anointing. When you became born again, you received Jesus into your life and by His spirit, He lives in you and functions through you. This is why He says we should pray in His name as that’s the activation of the anointing. Praise the Lord!
The anointing is inside of you. You don’t need anointing services, you need word services which builds your faith, so you can function by the anointing, inside of you. Hallelujah!
PRAYER:
Thank you dear Lord Jesus for personally carrying my sins in Your body on the cross willingly offering Yourself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice. I declare I am immune from the penalty and power of sin which includes sickness and death. I declare that by Your wounds, I have been healed therefore I experience healing now in the name of Jesus, Amen. Glory to God!
