In the beginning of the ministry Jesus, He met twelve people and told them to follow Him. He had a ministry to fulfill and needed to walk with people and so he called the first twelve. He said, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”
The call of Jesus Christ, is a call to make you great. When you became born again, you answered this call just as the first twelve did, and you received eternal life. This life isn’t an ordinary life; it is the life of God. It’s a life given and sustained by God. Hallelujah! To continue in this life, you must continue to follow Him; It’s not a momentary following, but a continuous one.
To follow Christ, is to follow with your soul, spirit and body. Jesus told the disciples, deny yourselves, carry your cross and follow me. What He meant was, be prepared for tough times, for the not so good times. He told them they’d be despised, abused and rejected for following Him and that they must be ready to face all these for His sake.
Child of God, Christianity is not a door out of troubles however, it’s an empowerment to come out of troubles as a champion. You can’t be defeated with this empowerment of the spirit. Jesus said, “I have given you authority.” You have the authority of Jesus to live and function like Him as long as you continue to follow Him.
How do you follow? You study His word, you commune with Him by fellowshipping with the brethren, praying and serving in His house. If you are a member of a local church, you can choose a department to serve in. You should not just seat down and do nothing. Your service to your church and to your pastor is your service to God. You don’t follow if you don’t show support to the one you follow. Praise God.
Jesus told Peter, if you say you love me me, feed my sheep. Let your root be deep in the knowledge and in the service of God because, this is is test of true love and followership. Hallelujah.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for your word to me today. I declare I will follow you till the very end, to the praise and glory of your name, In Jesus name, Amen!
