The word “Ministry” means to serve in the function of a priest by offering up “spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God.”
Romans 12:2 AMPC says, “I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.”
Romans 12:1 AMPC
With what we have read and the definition we have been given, we see that by believing in Jesus Christ, and receiving His salvation, we have entered into a priestly ministry. The priestly ministry is a ministry of serving and offering acceptable sacrifices to the Lord.
The offering the Lord first requires from you is the offering of sanctification which is to be devoted, and consecrated.
In the Old Testament, the priest would kill an animal and use its blood for sanctification but In the New Testament, Jesus said that we are cleansed, or consecrated by the word of God which is spoken and this is why the word of God is so important. The word of God is not what you read to pass time, it is service unto God, and a purifying agent.
Our opening verse makes us to understand that the word of God can be practiced, cultivated and meditated upon. The only way all these can be achieved is by seeing it as a ministry. The twelve apostles gave a reason for setting up the deaconry board in their time. Their reason was so they can continue to devote themselves steadfastly to prayer and the ministry of the Word.” Acts 6:4 AMPC. They knew the importance of the word and wouldn’t want to get distracted from it. You must understand that the ministry of the word is the ministry of Life and you should not start or end your day without it for it is God Himself. (John 1:1)
You are forgiven by the word, cleansed by the word, justified by the word and glorified by the word. Romans 1:16 says, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to anyone that believes. Salvation is simply being saved by the blood of Jesus Christ which was shed for our justification. You can program your life by the word of God which is why it was given to you. See it as your ministry, devote yourself daily to its studying, and practicing so that your progress will be evident to all. Hallelujah.
Confession:
I declare that I am devoted to the ministry of the word of God. By it I frame my life, and by it I position myself for success and for victory, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
